“Reflets Dans L’eau” The hole will slowly drain itself of this morning’s impressionistic reflections and soon I’ll be ordering the 300 lb. rubber liner, pump and skimmer. Meanwhile, we visited a fancy pond place in Jacksonville a few days ago where we saw many perfect Coi ponds with extensive rock formations like the one below. First of all, there are no real rocks in Florida and Adirondack formations would be prohibitively expensive and belong outside Hyatt Regencies. I have to admit however, I hadn’t thought this through. How the hell am gonna’ finish these edges to resemble the subtropical meandering, low-country Limpopo beset with fever trees I’d dreamed of before the hurricanes? I’d planned on using Coquina – a local cement-like substrate of tiny fused shells (used to construct the 450 year old Castillo,) but I’ve since learned Coquina disintegrates when submerged in fresh water. Imagine that.
So I’m planning on doing as little submerged rock work as possible around the perimeter to hide the liner then beset the whole thing with Philodendron, Pennyroyal and Asparagus ferns, all of which, rather than fever, will cause rash. Fist bump.
