GIVE HIM A WAY
Give him some tools,
plastic pales and some old wood
and he’ll play in a box of sand
Give him your rules,
fairy tales and a childhood
and the back of your right hand
And he’ll do his very best to make you happy,
or castle or a mountain with some flags all over it.
Give him a game
with no chance that he can win,
and he’ll try and make you proud.
Give him some shame
and some pants he’s not to play in,
and he won’t play out loud.
But he’ll do his very best to try and help you
with your problems,
and you’ll never hear him say get over them
But give him a way,
or he’ll sacrifice his life to make you happy,
or castle or a mountain with some flags all over it.
